The American Legion Auxiliary
Since 1919, the American Legion Unit 26 Auxiliary has become the largest patriotic organization in the world. The American Legion Unit 26 Auxiliary members know the definition of patriotism and what it means to be a responsible citizen. With over 900,000current members the American Legion Auxiliary are a strong voice advocating for Veterans issues and supporting the programs of the American Legion.

Post 26 Auxiliary
The American Legion Davenport Unit 26 Auxiliary is passionate about our community. We were chartered in 1922 with a total of 94 women on our charter. A mere three years after The American Legion Auxiliary was established in the United States. Helping our community with programs such as the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and the American Legion Auxiliary Junior Membership.
  Who are we?
We are the mothers, daughters, granddaughters, female veterans and military families. We are working professional women, stay-at-home Parents, actively retired, and Junior members. We understand the value of community service and know firsthand that our freedoms do not come without a price. We have the passion for helping others and the dedication for making the lives of our veteran and military families easier.
   
What is Girls State?
The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a unique citizenship training program in which Auxiliary members guide the youth of our nation toward an understanding, comprehension and appreciation of their roles as United States citizens, Girls State has provided a valuable learning ground for hundreds of thousands of accomplished women.
  What is Junior Membership?
The American Legion Auxiliary Junior Membership program is a culmination of excellent youth programs geared toward educating youth individuals of the appreciation of United States citizenship. Including programs such as Girls State, Girls Nation, and Juniors Patch Program.
     

Eligibility for membership in the American Legion Auxiliary is determined by the American Legion. The eligibility requirements from The American Legion governing documents shall be provided as a footnote to this Constitution for information purposes and shall be updated as appropriate. Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to the:

1) Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion; and

2) grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who served in either of the following periods: April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 and any time after December 7, 1941 who being a citizen of the United States at the time of their entry therein served on active duty in the Armed Forces of any of the governments associated with the United States during either eligibility periods and died in the line of duty or after honorable discharge

3) grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who were in the Armed forces of the United States during either of the following periods: April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941 who served on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States during either eligibility periods and died in the line of duty or after honorable discharge; and

4) to those women who of their own right are eligible for membership in The American Legion
